Joanna Gepfert graduated in Polish Philology from the University of Silesia (UŚ) in Katowice and in Business Administration from the University of Commerce and Services (WSHIU) in Poznań; completed a university programme in Public Communication at the Georgetown and George Washington University Consortium in the USA, as well as a postgraduate course in Public Information at Leyden University in the Netherlands.

She was employed in a number of state institutions, such as the Provincial Office in Katowice, the Sejm of the Republic of Poland, the Chancellery of the Senate, the Chancellery of the Council of Ministers, the Press Office of the Government, the European Integration and Foreign Aid Office, the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, the Office of the Committee for European Integration, the Polish History Museum, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Polish Radio, and the Ministry of State Assets. She also conducted business activities in management and social communication. She was an adviser and coach to company executives, managers and public figures. Since 2 March 2021, Deputy Director of the Institute De Republica.
