Dr hab. Jadwiga Potrzeszcz, University Professor

Jadwiga Potrzeszcz is University Professor of the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin (KUL) in Lublin. She obtained the PhD degree and subsequently the postdoctoral degree (habilitation) in Legal Sciences at the KUL. She also graduated in Polish Philology. Her scholarly activity focuses on legal interpretation, legislation, axiology of jurisprudence, legal security, social policy, education, human rights, ethics of legal professions and ethics in business. She has been employed at the Chair of the Theory and Philosophy of Law at the Faculty of Law, Canon Law and Administration of the KUL in Lublin. She is also a lecturer at the National School of Judiciary and Public Prosecution (KSSiP) in Kraków. In 2017-2019, she worked as expert on legislation in the Bureau of Research of the Chancellery of the Sejm (BAS). Since 2020, she has been employed as assistant to a judge of the Constitutional Tribunal. She is a member of the Internationale Vereinigung für Rechts- und Sozialphilosophie (IVR), the Legal Commission of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) Branch in Lublin, the Learned Society of the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin, the Association of Graduates and Friends of the Faculty of Law at the Catholic University of Lublin. She is also a member of editorial teams of legal periodicals ”Studia Prawnicze KUL”, ”Studia z Prawa Wyznaniowego”, ”Zeszyty Prawnicze Biura Analiz Sejmowych Kancelarii Sejmu” and a member of the Programme Council of the scientific quarterly ”Prawo i Więź”. She is the author of over 100 publications in the field of broadly understood theory and philosophy of law as well as monographs “Bezpieczeństwo prawne z perspektywy filozofii prawa” (Lublin 2013) and “Idea prawa w orzecznictwie polskiego Trybunału Konstytucyjnego” (Lublin 2007).
