The purpose of the conference is to answer a number of important questions concerning the history, present day and future of one of the oldest Polish towns. The organisers intend to treat the broad subject of Racibórz as a case study and a model for the development perspectives of medium sized towns which are endangered by the consequences of dangerous social, economic and cultural trends. The agenda of the conference includes lectures within two thematic sections: historical and socio-economic, as well as a panel discussion.

The lecturers and panellists will include Paweł Jabłoński, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, prof. dr hab. Zygmunt Woźniczka, prof. dr hab. Stanisław Nicieja, prof. dr hab. Marcin Piątkowski, prof. dr hab. Tomasz Pietrzykowski, and prof. dr hab. Krzysztof Zuba.

The Conference will be followed by a publication containing not only the lectures and views presented during the sessions, but also the submitted articles.
